What a wonderful reception we had as the Jean Calvert Jazz Trio entertained a very attentive audience at the Woodlands tonight. The room was full and they stayed until the last note, and then wanted to talk, hug and kiss us! Here's hoping to see you guys again soon!
They are not very active when dealing with or communicating with venders! It has been very difficult dealing with the activities director and its hard to get things scheduled for the independent living folks! I feel they need to look into getting an great event coordinator! One that is actively participating with the residents and setting up fun and informative activities! One that is available ... one that will returns phone calls and or emails! One that wants the residents to have the best activities available! For me and what I've experienced thus far has been way under-par! :(
Just wonderful - warm, inviting, comforting yet inspiring. Neighbors so friendly. Absolutely lovely place to live , I'm sure!.
Being a former employee in Dining services, I saw how fantasticly the residents in this community was treated. Although the facility offered many great things for our residents, the management over the servers, fell lackluster as my time as an employee came to a unfortunate end due to the attitudes of my surperiors, I could not stand to be disrespected any further by hypocritical and rude managers. Thus my employment was haulted to an ebrupt ending because of how poorly the management over the servers preformed, or lack of performance. In this environment the higher ups should be leaders and choose to lead by example, that is how things work out in the long run and that is how you get respect. Would not and will not EVER recommend working as a server at The Woodlands at Furman.
my mother-in-law is a resident at the Woodlands and while the staff is nice, none of us are very impressed with the facility. They really don't offer enough for the independent living folks. For the price they charge, they should have in-house get-togethers on a regular basis; in-house movies; a buddy system to get to know others; a pool and other recreational offerings on site; cocktail hour for those who want a social activity/light supper rather than a seated dinner or soup/diner option...they should have more art; games and other activities that pull people together. One of the draws is that they offer courses at Furman University, but many of the courses are actually off campus--somewhere else in town. Access to the university facilities is harder than it looks--and is subject to the University's schedule. There is not much else on that side of Greenville. If you're a single senior, it seems to be a rather lonely existence at the Woodlands itself. If she could move and get her money back, she probably would, but they keep your money--so buyer beware. Her last years of mobility should be easier and more enjoyable than they are.
