I tell all my friends that "I LOVE Gringos!" to which they always sneeringly respond with "Well if you love it SO much then why don't you just marry it!" And you know what? I'm not honestly sure what the marriage laws are in South Carolina regarding people entering into wedlock with a restaurant ... but if I could, then maybe I just would. 13/10 would recommend
Good quality food, cool environment, very friendly and accommodating wait staff. A favourite among downtown restaurants.
The last few times I've visited have been less than par. My tacos were thrown together rapidly and lacked a good balance of ingredients. I'd order the same taco multiple different times and each time I'd have more of one ingredient, less of another, or even sometimes missing something. The staff is always pleasant but constantly seems overwhelmed. Overall I've given this place a lot of chances but it has disappointed too many times lately. My first experience was great, but the lack of consistency (and on one occasion walking all the way down there to find the front door locked even though online and the posted hours both said they were open) makes this a no-go for me.
Food is good but the service is mediocre. Very very slow service. I had to go up to the bar and ask for a drink because the bartender was taking too long. The place was dead too so it is not like they were packed!
The food is below average. Do not expect the wait staff to be anything above rude. Very prejudice. If you are Anglo-Saxon then you have great service. If this establishment does not change they're wait staff and management soon I do not see how they will continue to stay in business, especially in the prime location that they are located. There are at least five different locations within a two-minute walking distance from Gringos with much better wait staff, much better quality of food and much better priced food. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone with a family, people looking to go out and have a relaxing time, or anyone who wishes to have a good time.
