I would highly recommend using Smith Dray Line for your next move & storage needs.
After all of the items were stored in their truck to head off to storage, each member of the team confirmed I was a happy customer.
The team of movers showed up promptly as planned. Before ever taking a step into the house or asking any questions, each mover came and introduced themselves to me.
This is the most professional and careful moving company in the Southeast! I have met many moving companies, and nothing compares to Smith Dray Line to meet your moving needs! They have been in business for about 100 years and are very reliable. Anyone in Asheville, Greenville, Columbia, or Charleston can reach out to Smith Dray Line for any of their local or long distance moves. They will take excellent care of you!
I can't speak highly enough about the professionalism and care that the entire team showed during the move.
Excellent company in the upstate of SC. Employees are careful, communicative and work with great integrity. Leslie Snell was a great contact and support for us.
We recently hired Smith Dray Lines to move us across the state, and we were absolutely disgusted with the whole experience. Firstly, the people who came had apparently never done a move before and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. I wanted to ask them if this was their first time moving someone, but soon discovered that they claimed to have been doing this for years. Secondly, they sent only 2 people, TWO PEOPLE, to move us. They made rude comments about the quantity of items that we owned, as if it was even their business what we owned. They were terribly slow in packing up our home. They were not courteous, they were not professional, and when I called to make a complaint during the packing process, my complaint was not taken seriously. I was pleased that they did send a couple extra people after my complaint and that the self-proclaimed "bum" wasn't sent back the next day. I was disappointed, however, to discover that apparently one of the individuals was on parole as I found his business card on the floor in the bathroom stating his court date appearance. This move is costing THOUSANDS of dollars, I should be receiving the level of customer service one would expect when spending that kind of money on a moving company's service. But alas, the company didn't value me as a customer. I was further repulsed when they showed up for the delivery and were grumbling and complaining during the entire time, making rude comments about things under their breath. When it came time to sign the paperwork my husband wasn't given any opportunity to ask questions or read what was in the paperwork, he was just told where to sign, and treated like he was an idiot when he would bring up a question or issue. Afterwards, I decided to read through the list of items and was disgusted to find that they had listed many of our items as damaged...even things that were either brand new or in excellent condition. I assume this was in an effort to avoid having to be held responsible if anything were to be reported as damaged. Well, I will not be turned away that easy. I will absolutely not report things as damaged that were not damaged during the actual move, but I am very displeased that I am not trusted to be honest concerning this matter and am further angered by their dishonesty in reporting that things were damaged or in disrepair that were actually in perfect condition. Even now after the move I have proof that those things are in EXCELLENT condition although on their paperwork they're listed as damaged. I would never hire them again or want even my worst enemy to got through what we have been through. My parents, who were also involved in the move whilst my husband had already gone onto the new location in advance, concluded that they must have gone looking for employees at the soup kitchen or homeless shelter. I don't know about you but those are not the individuals that I want moving my entire home and belongings. Not that there is anything wrong with those people, on the contrary they can be some of the nicest people, but in a moving company I want people with experience, a good solid working background, someone who knows what they're doing, someone who is honest, and we were given the worst experience we could have had. I do not recommend them to anyone. Call Two Men and a Truck, they will move you for a fraction of the cost.
We've moved several times around the country for work, and our most recent move during March of 2017 was our 4th major move (1k miles) and Smith-Dray in Greenville were by far the BEST movers we've ever hired! They did all of our packing and shipping, and they handled our stuff with care, delivered our furniture 5 days early, and were cheaper than they initially quoted. Plus, you work with the same agent/contact person throughout the entire process making it way easier to do business with them. Would highly recommend using them!
After the introductions, the team was on the MOVE. It was amazing to watch the speed that they worked at but, most importantly, handling every box and piece of furniture with such great care. The furniture was all wrapped very nicely to protect from damage. I never once thought that any of my stuff was at risk.
