I have been trying to get in for my diabetic eye appointment for over a year. Called in July of 2015 and could not get an appointment until Feb.4, 2016. Then they called me and reschuled my appointment until May 27 because Dr. Bowden was not going to be there for my appointment. They called me today to reschedule again because he is not going to be in. Did not have another appointment until July. I am finding a new practice because you certainly can't count on them. And the person calling me did not care they upset me again even after I told her I've had open heart quad bypass in between these cancelations and a heart attack. They don't care about the patient. Very disappointed in their practice. I hope Dr. Bowden sees my comments.
Watch out for hidden charges! I didn't find out about it until AFTER I saw the doctor and it was time to check out. They say they notify you of the charge that insurance won't cover in the reminder phone call that you get days before your appointment. I don't listen to those, so I never got the notification. The office manager argued with me that this was sufficient notification. I disagreed and said that if it's known that insurance won't cover it, there should be some written notification when the patient arrives and BEFORE they incur the charge. They did not agree and I was charged for the service. The service by the doctor was adequate, if not aloof and robotic. My family and I will not be returning to any of the Jervey Eye Group locations.
I saw Dr Shaw and think he, his staff (Charlene is who I see regularly with Dr Shaw, as well as other support staff like Ebony and Leah) are great. They are always very welcoming, I appreciate they schedule follow ups to make sure things are going well and seem to genuinely care and take my concerns seriously.
Don't come here unless you want to pay $300 for an eye exam. Go somewhere cheaper, shop around! They don't take medicaid insurance. Walmart is better. They didn't even warn me that my insurance wouldn't cover it! They waited for me to finish my exam before they could shock me with the amount I have to pay them. Rude assholes. Don't go there!!!
My experiences there too aloft for my taste. Prices for everything too high. My insurance pays for one exam a year; but they charged me a co-pay anyway.
